A Note from the Author
Dear readers,
I am thrilled to share with you my latest novel, Tender Crossing Cross, a story that has been close to my heart for many years. Inspired by real-life events, this book explores the complexities of love, loss, and the enduring power of the human spirit amidst the turmoil of war.
At its heart, Tender Crossing Cross is a love story—a passionate and forbidden romance that defies the boundaries of race and time. But it is also a story about family, sacrifice, and the resilience of the human spirit. Set against the backdrop of World War II, the novel follows the intertwined lives of two extraordinary characters: Sarah, a young woman from a small town in the American South, and David, a German soldier who has been torn from his homeland.
As war rages around them, Sarah and David find solace in each other's arms. But their love is not without its challenges. They must overcome the prejudices of their time and the dangers of a world at war. And when tragedy strikes, they must find the strength to carry on and rebuild their lives.
Tender Crossing Cross is a novel that will stay with you long after you finish reading it. It is a story about the indomitable power of love, the importance of family, and the resilience of the human spirit.
I hope you enjoy this book as much as I enjoyed writing it.
With love,

Chapter 1: The American Girl
Sarah was born and raised in a small town in the American South. She was a bright and curious child, always eager to learn and explore. But her world was small and sheltered, and she longed for something more.
When World War II broke out, Sarah was old enough to understand the gravity of the situation. She watched as her friends and neighbors went off to fight, and she knew that her life would never be the same.
One day, Sarah was walking home from school when she saw a group of German prisoners of war being marched down the street. She had never seen anything like it before. The prisoners were thin and ragged, their faces drawn. But their eyes were proud and defiant.
Sarah was drawn to one prisoner in particular. He was a young man with dark hair and piercing blue eyes. He walked with his head held high, even though he was surrounded by guards.
Sarah couldn't take her eyes off of him. She knew that he was different from the other prisoners. He had a spark in his eyes that told her he was not a monster, as the propaganda had led her to believe.
Sarah followed the prisoners to the camp where they were being held. She watched as they were herded into the barracks, and she felt a pang of pity for them.
That night, Sarah couldn't sleep. She kept thinking about the young German soldier she had seen. She knew that she had to do something to help him.
The next day, Sarah went back to the camp. She didn't know what she was going to do, but she knew that she had to see the young soldier again.
When she got to the camp, Sarah saw the young soldier working in the yard. He was digging a trench, and he was clearly exhausted. Sarah watched him for a while, and then she gathered her courage and approached him.
"Excuse me," she said. "My name is Sarah."
The young soldier looked up at her, and a flicker of surprise crossed his face. "Hello," he said. "My name is David."
Sarah and David talked for a long time that day. They talked about their lives, their families, and their hopes for the future. Sarah learned that David was a kind and gentle man, and she felt drawn to him in a way she had never felt drawn to anyone before.
As the days went by, Sarah and David spent more and more time together. They talked, they laughed, and they shared their dreams. They fell in love, and their love was a powerful force that transcended the boundaries of race and war.
Chapter 2: The German Soldier
David was born and raised in Germany. He was a bright and ambitious young man, and he had always dreamed of becoming a doctor. But when World War II broke out, David's dreams were put on hold. He was drafted into the army and sent to fight on the front lines.
David was a good soldier. He was brave and loyal, and he fought for his country with all his heart. But he also saw the horrors of war firsthand. He saw his friends die, and he saw innocent civilians caught in the crossfire.
David began to question the war. He wondered if it was worth it to kill and die for a cause that he no longer believed in. He longed for peace, and he dreamed of a day when he could return home to his family.
One day, David was captured by American soldiers. He was taken to a prisoner of war camp, where he was held for the rest of the war.
David was a prisoner, but he was not defeated. He kept his spirit alive, and he never gave up hope. He knew that one day the war would end, and he would be able to return home.
In the meantime, David found solace in his friendship with Sarah. Sarah was a kind and compassionate woman, and she helped David to keep his faith in humanity alive.
David and Sarah's love was a powerful force that sustained them both through the darkest days of the war. It gave them hope for the future, and it helped them to believe that even in the midst of war, there was still room for love and compassion.
