In her powerful and moving memoir, Unorthodox, Deborah Feldman chronicles her journey of rejection and liberation from her Hasidic roots. Raised in a strict and insular community in Brooklyn, Feldman struggled with the restrictive rules and expectations placed upon her.

From a young age, Feldman felt like an outsider within her own community. She questioned the teachings of her religion and longed for a life beyond the confines of her neighborhood. As she grew older, her desire for freedom grew stronger.

In her early twenties, Feldman made the courageous decision to leave her community. She left behind her family, her friends, and everything she had ever known. She moved to Berlin, where she began a new life of self-discovery.

In Berlin, Feldman faced many challenges. She had to learn a new language, find a job, and build a new life for herself. But she also found a sense of freedom and belonging that she had never experienced before.

Feldman's memoir is a powerful and inspiring story of rejection and liberation. It is a story that will resonate with anyone who has ever felt like an outsider or who has ever longed for a life beyond the confines of their own community.

Unorthodox is a must-read for anyone who is interested in the Hasidic community, the experience of immigration, or the power of the human spirit.
