Quimby's passion for nature and conservation began at a young age. She grew up on a farm in Maine, and she spent much of her time exploring the woods and fields around her home. She developed a deep love for the natural world, and she became determined to protect it.

In 1984, Quimby founded Burt's Bees with her then-husband, Burt Shavitz. The company started out as a small operation that sold handmade beeswax candles. However, Burt's Bees quickly grew in popularity, and it soon became a major player in the natural skincare market.

As Burt's Bees grew, Quimby became increasingly involved in environmental activism. She began to donate money to organizations that were working to protect land and wildlife. She also began to speak out about the importance of conservation.

In 2005, Quimby made a major donation to the Conservation Fund, a nonprofit organization that works to protect land. The donation was used to create the Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument, a 87,563-acre park in Maine.

Quimby's donation was the largest single donation ever made to the Conservation Fund. It was a major step towards her goal of creating a new national park in Maine. In 2016, her dream was realized when the Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument was designated as a national park.

Quimby's story is an inspiring example of how one person can make a difference. She has used her success to help protect the natural world that she loves. Her legacy will continue to inspire others to do the same.

Here are some additional facts about Roxanne Quimby:
